Meals On Wheels of Sheboygan County Continues Bulk Deliveries

 

 

(Sheboygan – October 23, 2020)  Fresh Meals On Wheels of Sheboygan County, Inc. (FMOW) will continue with minimal contact, weekly bulk meal delivery for the safety of meal recipients, volunteers and staff.

 

“We had been planning to resume daily delivery in November; however, the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the state caused us to choose to continue with our bulk delivery,” said Kelly Anderson, Meals On Wheels of Sheboygan County CEO.

 

Meals are made by the FMOW culinary staff, flash frozen and delivered by friendly volunteers driving sanitized FMOW vehicles, which were made available to FMOW thanks to the generosity of Kohler Company, Meals on Wheels America, Sheboygan Chrysler, United Way of Sheboygan County, and Van Horn Automotive.

 

In addition to delivering tasty homemade meals, Fresh Meals On Wheels connects meal recipients with Caring Callers, volunteers who phone and check in a few times a week to make sure all is well in the home.

 

“I think each one looks forward to our calls,” said Caring Caller volunteer Karen Egan, who makes regular phone calls along with her husband, Jack. “One can see the smile on their faces when they pick up the phone.”

About Fresh Meals On Wheels

For 50 years, FMOW has provided tasty, nutritious, home-delivered meals to Sheboygan County’s senior, disabled, and homebound residents. Since 2012, meals have been made in FMOW’s Christopher Family Kitchen using fresh, local ingredients from the FMOW gardens, or donated by local farmers and gardeners. During the COVID-19 pandemic, FMOW has gone to limited contact, weekly meal delivery. Volunteer Caring Callers regularly check in with clients by phone, providing peace of mind for clients and their families.
