Fresh Meals On Wheels is Driving Wellness Home in Sheboygan County.
We provide tasty, nutritious, home-delivered meals to Sheboygan County’s elderly, disabled, and home-bound residents with no waiting list or income restrictions. Meals are made daily in our Christopher Family Kitchen using fresh, local ingredients from the Meals On Wheels gardens, or donated by local farmers and gardeners. In addition to providing meals, volunteer visits and phone calls serve as wellness checks and offer much needed social interaction for clients each day. This “more than a meal” approach provides peace of mind for clients and their families. Meals On Wheels is continually working to find new ways to improve clients’ health and well-being through partnerships with local healthcare, academic and service organizations.

Our mission is to provide delicious, nourishing meals and wellness checks for those who are unable to obtain or prepare proper nutritional meals, regardless of race, color, ability, national origin, age or income.
We believe in kindness. We hire talented people from a wide variety of backgrounds who have compassion for our neighbors. Every day we reach out to those who need a hand. We are committed to to exhibiting kindheartedness through our meal preparations, delivery, and in partnerships, both now and in the future.
Our History
Meals On Wheels of Sheboygan County, Inc. is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit charitable organization incorporated in Sheboygan, Wisconsin in 1970.
The program began with one route and six clients and grew quickly establishing the first Plymouth route in 1971 and expanding into Kohler, Sheboygan Falls and Elkhart Lake in 1978. Today we serve more than 400 people who live throughout Sheboygan County – from Random Lake to Howards Grove and all points in between.
After decades of working with caterers and hospitals to provide meals, the decision was made to pursue a fresh alternative. With enormous community support, in 2012, we were able to open our facility on Taylor Drive complete with the Christopher Family Kitchen and start producing our own meals using fresh, locally sourced fruits and vegetables.
The intention had always been to grow food on site. In 2014, we added 11 raised beds behind our facility and another 18 in partnership with WPS on Wildwood Avenue. From 2015 to 2019, we added a rhubarb garden, edible plantings around the perimeter of the building, an orchard, four garden trellis beds and a greenhouse. In 2022 a sensory garden was added. Each year, staff and volunteers harvest as much as 18,000 pounds of produce on site.
No other Meals On Wheels program in the country is doing what we're doing here in Sheboygan County. We're a model for other programs that want to adopt a local, fresh food approach in their own communities. We have shared the secrets of our success with many other programs in the United States and Canada.
Funding sources for Meals On Wheels of Sheboygan County include local businesses and foundations, United Way of Sheboygan County, private correspondence, donations, client partners, and
annual fundraising events such as Soup on Wheels and June-A-Palooza.
